Job Summary

Job Title: SQL Server DBA Senior Level
Location: Hybrid Midtown Atlanta GA
Local candidates only (must currently reside in the Atlanta area)

100% DBA profiles are strongly preferred
Secondary consideration: 60% Developer / 40% DBA.

Job Summary
Under limited supervision the SQL Server DBA will coordinate design secure and maintain enterprise SQL Server databases supporting critical GDOT applications. This role serves as a senior subject matter expert providing authoritative technical guidance and may act as a lead resource within the database administration function.

Key Responsibilities
Database Administration
Manage all aspects of SQL Server physical database administration including:
o Schema management
o Security and access control
o Installation upgrades patching and configuration
o Backup recovery and disaster recovery planning
o Space management performance tuning and capacity planning
Support SQL Server databases across Production Test and Development environments
Support SQL Server databases within Microsoft SharePoint farms

High Availability & Recovery
Install configure test and maintain SQL Server Always On Availability Groups
Develop and implement database recovery strategies and procedures
Manage clustered SQL Server environments

Performance & Optimization
Analyze database and query performance; recommend tuning and application changes
Perform T-SQL development query optimization and indexing strategies
Script batch data loads and automate operational jobs

Security & Governance
Implement and validate database security protocols and authentication
Ensure compliance with organizational and governance standards

Architecture & Documentation
Review system designs and recommend new database solutions as required
Modify database structures and deploy schema changes based on evolving requirements
Create:
o Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs)
o Data dictionaries
o Database and system architecture documentation

Additional Technologies
Working knowledge of Cohesity Backup Appliance
Familiarity with Cloud technologies and governance models

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in computer science or related field
7 years experience supporting database management systems or related platforms

Required Technical Skills
6 years hands-on SQL Server DBA experience
6 years experience with:
o Backup recovery and high availability
o Performance tuning and database optimization
o SQL Server clustering and Microsoft operating systems
o T-SQL scripting and query development
4 years experience with:
o SQL Server Always On Availability Groups
o Database migrations
3 years experience with:
o Database space management storage design and capacity planning
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to document database architecture and data models
