Job Summary:
The Manager Light Rail Communications is responsible for the oversight of daily operations maintenance and installation of light rail communication systems. The role ensures reliable and cost-effective voice and data communications to support safe and efficient rail operations. Responsibilities include staff management project oversight and vendor coordination.
Location:Newark New Jersey United States
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the Light Rail Communications department.
- Oversee installation maintenance and repair of communications systems.
- Ensure reliable delivery of mission-critical voice and data services.
- Support systems including train control SCADA telephone CCTV and passenger information.
- Manage standards and administration for communications systems on capital projects.
- Maintain system documentation drawings and equipment databases.
- Supervise field activities and coordinate construction for capital projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety construction codes and technical standards.
- Prepare review and approve project reports cost estimates and requisitions.
- Coordinate communications projects with internal teams consultants and vendors.
- Monitor emerging communications technologies and recommend improvements.
- Manage department staffing performance and safety practices.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance or project management.
- Minimum 2 years of managerial or supervisory experience.
- 3 years of experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- Basic budgeting and cost-planning knowledge.
- Technical expertise related to communications or facility systems.
- Strong project management skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Knowledge of light rail or transportation industry.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Special Considerations:
- Hybrid work model.
