Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Boiler Technician to join our mechanical contracting this role you will be the technical lead on-site responsible for the installation maintenance and emergency repair of commercial and industrial heating systems. From high-pressure steam boilers to high-efficiency condensing units you will ensure our clients systems operate at peak performance while adhering to all municipal and state safety codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine preventative maintenance cleaning and complex repairs on water-tube fire-tube and cast-iron boilers.
- Diagnostics: Utilize advanced combustion analyzers and digital controls to troubleshoot burner performance and efficiency issues.
- Installation: Read and interpret blueprints and piping schematics to install new boiler systems including pumps valves and venting.
- Water Chemistry: Test boiler water quality and manage chemical treatment systems to prevent corrosion and scale buildup.
- Compliance: Maintain meticulous logs of all services performed and ensure systems meet ASME and local jurisdictional requirements.
- Emergency Response: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 emergency support for critical facilities (hospitals schools industrial plants).
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in commercial/industrial boiler service.
- Licensing: Must have a valid Drivers License with a clean record.
- Technical Skills: * Proficiency in reading wiring diagrams and ladder logic.
- Experience with burner management systems.
- Strong knowledge of gas oil and dual-fuel firing systems.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50 lbs work in confined spaces and climb ladders or scaffolding as needed.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
- ASME welding certification or pipefitting experience.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Safety Training.
- Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) integration.
