POSITION OVERVIEW
The Health and Safety Superintendent is the senior Health and Safety leader for one of the largest LNG facilities in the directly to the Director Health Safety and Environmental this role is responsible for supporting site Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Department programs practices and field actions. They are considered a subject matter expert and lead in the development implementation execution and continuous improvement of Occupational Health and Safety Programs. As a member of the Sites HSE Leadership Team and one of the Companys leading H&S professionals they will provide leadership to continually drive improvements with Chenieres Safety Culture and continually make improvementswithin Four Key Strategic Objectives:

Safe Stable and Reliable facility Operations.
In promotion and championing these objectives the Superintendent Health and Safety will work Site and Enterprise wide to build and implement Key Strategic Actions that will dive sustained engagement and continual improvement the company Mission to responsibly deliver a reliable competitive and integrated source of LNG in a safeand rewarding work environment. Areas of focus will include;
Influencing and strengthening the leaders commitment and engagement in Serious Incident and Fatality (SIF) risk management.
Continually championing and driving tools to assist the organizations leaders with the link between leadership and safety culture and observe and engage with employees and their work. Promoting principles of Management by Walking Around Asking Really Good Questions Field Engagement Formal Audits and Recognitions are a few examples of areas of potential influence.
Making improvement in Core Safety concepts and driving perfection in procedures execution with first priority being on Chenieres Life Saving Rules; and
Leveraging external organizations like AFPM API ASSE and Local Industry to benchmark and adopt best industry practices like AFPMs Walk The Line and Walk The Job and looking for ways to integrate Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) into existing systems and procedures.
In support of Inspiring Challenging and Empowering the Health and Safety Team the role will work collaboratively with their team to develop and implement individual development plans and achievable goals that align with the organizations key strategic objectives ensure ongoing organizational objectives are achieved and provide opportunity is available for personnel to grow and meet their career aspirations.
Other duties include but are not limited to development of the site safety management systems engagement with frontline and contractor work force performing field observation of high-risk activities incident investigations root cause failure analysis providing technical advice to operations/maintenance supporting in the preparation of presentations and reports interpretation of data and action recommendation providing health and safety assurance tracking and analysis of key performance indicators and general assistance with other safety and health-related requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Manage/lead safety professionals and drive health and safety programs and procedures consistently across the site.
Engage and champion the core concepts of perfect execution of safe work processes with stakeholder groups including the corporate office site personnel and contractor work force in.
Develop active engagement strategy with afore mentioned stakeholder groups for continuously improving the asset and company health & safety programs.
Ensure proper field support and oversight of health and safety practices is provided for operations and maintenance personnel.
Organize and assign goals and responsibilities manage individual and team performance and conduct meaningful employee performance reviews.
Educate train and motivate personnel to minimize occupational incidents injuries and hazards.
Support the implementation of the safety programs procedures guidelines and work methods for operations and maintenance activities providing safety guidance/recommendations as needed.
Develop implement and audit health & safety safe work practices and processes.
Coach mentor and develop health & safety personnel utilizing company development resources.
Expand team capabilities in areas such as data analytics and critical thinking.
Oversee the daily execution of the Health and Safety budget including forecasting and identify needs for future budgets to the HSE Director.
Provide oversight and coordination with HR regarding site case management fit for duty and annual medical surveillance.
Tracking and reporting of key Health & Safety performance metrics include leading and lagging indicators.
Responsible for maintaining site specific health and safety related procedures and other key management systems within the Cheniere Integrated Management System (CIMS).
Member of site Incident Management Team as outline in the Emergency Response Plan.
Participate among industry trade organization(s).

Understanding and experience with leadership tools and methods for managing individuals and high performing teams to deliver positive results.
Skills:
Strong leadership including experience leading work teams and a demonstrated ability to develop working relationships and influence across multiple stakeholders such as production maintenance and engineering departments.
Strong leadership track record with the ability to inspire motivate and create an innovative work environment. Leader will set high standard of team performance and have a proven track record of setting and managing performance goals coaching and developing talent and as necessary ensuring recognition and/or coaching on performance is completed.
Strong facilitation capability to manage strong and diverse opinions and create space for collaborative dialogue.
Ability to engage site leaders using various methods and techniques to coach them in their roles as HSE leaders and champions of the Sites Safety Culture.
Familiar with health and safety regulatory requirements for federal state and local government agencies and/or have the ability to learn and obtain necessary skill/knowledge requirements within timeframe designated by management.
Demonstrate nimbleness and adaptability as business needs change.
Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Organized and able to manage multiple activities and programs timely and with a high degree of proficiency.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Analyze HSE data and identifying trends with the intent of developing action plans to reduce or eliminate the potential for Significant Injury or Fatality.
Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite consisting of Word Excel Access and PowerPoint.
Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) in good standing status.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education Training and Certifications: Bachelors degree in occupational safety & health or relevant discipline equivalent work experience or related military training/experience will be be CPR First Aid certified or have the ability to obtain certification and have knowledge of emergency procedures. CSP/ASP Certification preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of ten (10) years related experience in HSE Emergency Response or equivalent military experience. Knowledge and understanding of the Incident Command System and Safety Management Systems preferred. Must be able to prepare and present information to a varying audience.
Proven capability in preparation and presentation of HSE information to a varying audience.
Leadership and Supervision:
Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory/leadership experience in HSE. Proven capability in preparation and presentation of HSE information to a varying audience. A focus on achieving business-valued deliverables and developing high performing teams in an LNG hydrocarbon refining or petrochemical infrastructure facility(ies) is preferred.
DIRECT REPORTS
The Superintendent Health & Safety will oversee the work of the Health & Safety team including Supervisor Health and Safety and Coordinators Health and Safety Leads and may include oversight of third-party contractor personnel.
FREEDOM TO ACT
This position has a high degree of aptitude in their field and requires minimal supervision and is empowered to recommend corrective actions as needed and will document the corrective actions that may have violated company policy or laws and regulations pursuant to facility regulatory requirements permits or authorizations.
WORK CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand walk sit climb stairs work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks balance stoop kneel crouch talk or hear smell type and write.
While performing the duties of this job the employee will work indoors and outdoors and be exposed to year-round weather conditions ocean environment noise and occasionally process gases and vapors. There is a considerable amount of outdoor activities involved.
Subject to drug and alcohol testing per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
May be required to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities including the physical demands associated with this role.
Required to obtain mandated certification by attending Company-sponsored training in basic first aid CPR and other certifications as deemed essential to the role.
