Status: Contract Full Time; 14 Month duration

Salary Range: Non Union Salary Band H; $92151 per annum -$115189 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accrual)

Hiring Range: $92151 per annum - $103670 per annum

Work Mode: Hybrid; 2 on-site days per week which can increase based on operational needs*see below for more details about this work mode.

Reports to: Director Water and Wastewater Engineering Services

The role:

This role offers you the unique opportunity to collaborate with Project Managers and Senior Project Managers on transformative large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Youll be integral to strategic capital projects ranging from $10 million to over $100 million engaging in complex feasibility studies risk assessments and redundancy planning. With opportunities to develop and implement cutting-edge engineering tools and decision-making systems this position empowers you to channel your creativity in shaping the future of essential infrastructure renewal and replacement. What you will do in this role:

  • Collaborate with project managers on water/wastewater projects to achieve deliverables across all project phases including planning executing monitoring and close-out.
  • Develop and monitor project charters and management plans with clearly defined milestones and support communication plans through materials like newsletters project updates and status reports.
  • Conduct surveys focus groups and research to inform project scope and recommend improvements based on best practices and functional review analysis.
  • Assess change impacts program readiness and current state within departments and work with stakeholders to develop and monitor time scope and budget requirements.
  • Lead working groups and project teams ensuring coordination within and across departments to achieve outcomes.
  • Manage and report on project activities prepare presentations and meetings for sponsors and stakeholders and develop communications.
  • Analyze documentation and legislation offering recommendations and develop tender documents RFPs and Council reports.
  • Provide technical input for the Regions asset management system developing infrastructure renewal policies and programs assessing renewal needs and creating capital plans.
  • Offer feedback on secondary plans official plan amendments and service studies; recommend business improvements for infrastructure assessment.
  • Collaborate with municipalities and utilities for infrastructure coordination and lead vulnerability and risk assessments for the water/wastewater system.
  • Prepare project management documents assemble project teams and identify resources project scope and deliverables for successful project outcomes.

What the role requires:

  • University or college degree in Engineering Geo Science or Earth Sciences with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of water infrastructure and related functions.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and methodology.
  • Knowledge of change management principles and methodologies with experience in implementing change tactics.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Leadership and project management skills to guide project teams in developing project scope managing financials and overseeing consultants.
  • Collaboration skills to work with approval agencies and achieve consensus on project components and recommendations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to present project recommendations to senior management Council approval agencies and the public.
  • Problem-solving skills to evaluate stakeholder input assess technical feasibility and develop cost-effective solutions.
  • Ability to delegate tasks coordinate logistics and create both short- and long-term project plans and strategies.
  • Capability to interpret and understand technical data related to preliminary design infrastructure conditions and asset life cycles.
  • Strong customer/client service orientation.
  • Proficiency in all MS Office applications.

Work Mode & Job Location:

In this role youll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.

Its important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that were compliant with all regulations and policies.
