This is a share role between Waterford Elementary and Vince Meyer Early Learning Center (Early Childhood Special Education)
Position Criteria:
- Licensed by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners as a Special Education Teacher School Psychologist School Social Worker or other as approved by the Director of Student Services.
- Three (3) or more years of education experience preferably in the public school setting (PK-12).
- Masters degree preferred.
- Early Childhood Special Education experience with inclusive model preferred.
- Experience in utilizing Evidence-Based Practices with special education instruction in the areas of literacy math and behavior including specific knowledge of Iowa Core.
- Experience designing presenting and facilitating adult professional learning experiences and working collaboratively as a member of a professional development planning team.
- Commitment to supporting the growth of others and the belief that adult learning is essential to student learning.
- Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Criteria:
- Implementation of the districts strategic plan and aligning programs plans and actions to the district special education service delivery plan.
- Demonstrated implementation of research-supported instructional and balanced assessment practices supporting differentiation and integration of skills and concepts
- Proven ability to understand and interpret the Framework for Meeting the Needs of All Students as well as implementation of Multi-Tiered System of Supports in both academics and behavior
- Consultation coaching and modeling to support the academic and behavioral needs of students with IEPs and improve student outcomes through job embedded learning
- Coaching and modeling to support implementation of Functional Behavioral Analysis Behavior Intervention Plans and related program delivery.
- Coaches teachers and administrators regarding special education IDEA requirements
- Proven ability to work and collaborate with diverse groups including colleagues administrators AEA team members and students
- Demonstrated understanding of key processes in a Professional Learning Community and participation with colleagues to promote consistency and continued shared learning
- Works directly with teachers and support staff to carry out the vision and goals of the school community by providing classroom-based demonstrations professional development and support to grade level/curricular/building level teams.
- Assists in monitoring the implementation and compliance of special education services/ programs with state and federal laws
- Supports problem solving planning and implementation for challenging behavior cases
- Intentional follow-up and follow-through on high-level cases including monitoring and reporting of progress and action steps. Collect and report data as required.
- Demonstrated willingness and desire to be coached in order to continue to grow professionally
- Deep understanding of Danielsons domains and components
- Provide leadership and expertise in delivering professional development working to further building and district goals
- Supports all staff in professional growth helping students meet learning expectations collaborating in the analysis of data to guide instruction and examining/implementing best practices to improve student learning
- Maintain regular collaboration with building and district leaders
- Maintain appropriate records and protects the confidentiality of data
- Assist with new teacher induction process
- Other duties as assigned
