Controller - Grand Rapids Michigan

DISHER is partnering with a global foam cleaning equipment company in Grand Rapids MI to fill their Controller position. This company designs and builds chemical management and application equipment specializing in foam cleaning solutions such as foam fog spray gel and more. They provide customized solutions for a wide range of industries ensuring that each application is tailored to meet specific cleaning needs and optimize efficiency. The Controller is a senior accounting leader responsible for ensuring accurate compliant and scalable accounting operations while actively developing a high-performing accounting team in a technology-enabled environment.

This role partners closely with a fast-moving CFO/Chief of Staff and Director of Financial Planning & Analytics. The ideal candidate complements decisive leadership by bringing structure execution and technical depthwithout slowing momentum or defaulting to outdated accounting practices.

What you will get to do:

Lead coach and develop the accounting team with a focus on accountability clarity and modern skill development
Own accurate timely monthly quarterly and annual closes using a continuous close approach
Ensure GAAP tax and audit compliance in a paperless digital-first environment
Design and improve internal controls that are automated scalable and system-driven
Partner with leadership to translate fast-moving decisions into executable accounting actions
Oversee manufacturing accounting including inventory cost accounting and variances
Drive accounting systems optimization integrations and process automation
Support global accounting readiness including international sales distributors FX exposure and future entities
Build and maintain scalable SOPs and close documentation using digital tools (not binders)
Model companys values and champion continuous improvement and innovation in finance

What will make you successful:

10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience including Controller-level
Proven success in leadership roles
Strong GAAP audit and manufacturing accounting expertise
Demonstrated experience leading accounting teams in modern ERP environments
Hands-on involvement with systems implementations integrations or finance automation
Comfort operating in a paperless technology-driven accounting function
Experience supporting continuous close or accelerated close environments preferred
Exposure to international operations or global sales strongly preferred
Curiosity and openness to AI-enabled finance toolsand future applications
