Job Summary

The Assistant to the President Family Advancement position exists to develop relationships with individual constituents foundations and corporations for the purpose of having them financially support the ministry; to communicate the vision mission and initiatives of Focus on the Family thank donors for their gifts inform them of our on-going projects and how donors can be financially involved enhance our friendship through authentic encouragement serving as a resource for their ministry needs and discovers and pursues opportunities for giving with potential Duties/Responsibilities:Manages an assigned geographic territory and is required to travel to that territory a minimum of 88 days per yearDevelops new Friends of the ministry through a variety of networking events and avenuesSpeaks on behalf of the ministry at various events to deepen donor connection and commitment to Focus on the Family Develops and maintains positive relationships with supporters and shows sensitivity and genuine concern without becoming self-serving Develops relationship and giving programs that align donor passions with ministry initiatives. Facilitates donor events Meets and/or exceeds departmental dashboard measures on an annual basisRelates and communicates with people of all ages ethnic backgrounds and socio-economic levelsPursues utmost detail in the area of constituent relationship and maintenanceStays current with social policy issues and maintains currency in terms of personal and professional development through research and readingProvides constituents with status and financial reportsMaintains a healthy affirming relationship with family and spouseExhibits integrity in professional and personal life in accordance with Biblical standards; straightforward and not self-servingParticipates in monthly scheduled department meetingsGenerates and maintains trip summaries expense reports constituent profile updates and key people list monthly updatesMaintains daily contact with support personnel providing leadership and instruction Maintains awareness of social and economic issues relating to territory and constituentsRecruits for and participates in insider events hosted by Family Advancement and other Focus departmentsOther Duties/Responsibilities:Performs other duties as assignedWorking Environment/Physical Requirements:Office EnvironmentJOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTSCharacter/Spiritual:Exemplifies Ephesians 5:1-2 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children and walk in love as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always even to the end of the a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintains a courteous Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Focus; adheres to theStandard of Moral ConductandStatement of Faith; upholds Focus on the Familys ministry in prayerPrays personally for Focus on the Familys staff and constituents and may occasionally lead in a public prayerEngages in Christian ministryDemonstrates behaviors aligned withFOF core valuesThis position is a position of responsibility as defined in the Focus on the Family Moral Policy and is subject to the parameters defined therein regarding divorceThis role is considered a Spokesperson for Focus on the Family and should represent Focus position and tone at all timesPersonal Characteristics:Awareness of own strengths and shortcomingsHigh level of energy and enthusiasmMust be bright positive and friendly - conveying warmth and a genuine interest in peopleWell-developed social skillsEmotionally resilient and capable of handling pressure and rejection without inappropriate disappointment of personal reproachCreates favorable impression in terms of appropriate attire appearance bearing and mannerConvincing persuasive and credible able to impress favorably and win long-term confidence and trustKnowledge/Experience:Bachelors Degree; MBA preferred7-10 years of broad business experience with an emphasis in sales and/or business ownershipIn-depth knowledge of Focus philosophy mission values and objectivesFamiliar with the needs of small businesses entrepreneurs and executives of large corporationsSkills Abilities and Special Talents/Gifts:Excellent listening skills and exhibit the ability to understand what others are communicatingHighly polished verbal skills; clarity of expression good organization of thoughts and effective articulationBroad understanding of the business community with an ability to move with ease in the boardroom as well as the church environment.
