QUALIFICATIONS- A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in the field(s) of Elementary Education.

Reports to: Building PrincipalJob Goals:To effectively teach students in classroom settings in whole group small group and individual situations in order to provide an optimal learning experience for all students regardless of ability level or interest level. To view children as individuals and to take into account the intellectual social and emotional development of each in the course of the daily classroom program. To strive to maximize the greatest potential of all students within the classroom program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:- Teach students in specific subject and grade levels as assigned by the principal.
- Follow the adopted school-wide curriculum.
- Maintain an efficient record of student progress and modify the daily classroom program in order to meet the academic needs of all students.
- Supplement textbook presentations with appropriate and relevant resource materials and activities.
- Maintain an organized stimulating and enriching classroom atmosphere in which to learn.
- Prepare and make record of sequential daily lesson plans which clearly indicate the gorals and procedures of each lesson.
- Present a variety of instructional methods which maintain interest in and involvement with the daily lesson on the part of students.
- Clearly articulate a proper sense of classroom and school-wide decorum and behavior which uniformly sets expectations and consequences.
- Update all required student academic records.
- Participate in any required in-service workshops held during the course of the school day.
- Perform duties as assigned by the principal relative to the monitoring of students in non-instructional settings.
- Perform required written tasks as assigned by the principal such as scheduling teacher goals progress reporting report cards budget request parent communications etc.
- Maintain an open channel of communication between home and school and participate in conferences with parents as they directly relate to the students needs and progress.
- Promptly report all suspected cases of abuse either physical sexual or emotional in nature to the Building Principal.
- Participate in meetings with administration academic or Special Needs personnel when appropriate.
- Participate in individual student TEAM meetings scheduled through the Special Needs Department.
- Work cooperatively with other faculty members and the administration in regard to student program coordination and curriculum development.
- Responsible for continued professional growth.
- Perform other school related duties at the discretion of the principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Salary and work year as outlined in the Teacher Contract.
EVALUATIONPerformance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the School Committee policy on evaluation of teachers.
