Please include your name and the position title in the files SensitivityTeamworkProfessionalismCreativityLeadershipJob DutiesWrite assign edit and fact check 12 to 14 stories per weekTrain manage and lead a team of three Assistant News Editors and a staff of approximately 10 to 20 contributorsComplete a 6-week internship at The Kingston Whig Standard over the summer monthsBe located in Kingston ON during the summerBe on call for Breaking News and making immediate web updatesSending out communications requests to the University and the AMS upon every press day (staff will write them and send in advance)Create a goal-plan for the section and refer to it throughout the yearAttend all in-print press days to lay out stories in the paper (occurs every other Thursday)For both in-print and online-only press day upload stories to The Journals website (occurs every Monday and Thursday for the first six weeks of each semester and every Thursday for the last six weeks of the semester)Work with the Senior Photo Editor and Production Manager and visuals team to develop visual content for each storyWork closely with the Editor(s) in Chief to develop the vision and direction of the sectionAttend all Editorial Board and section-head meetings as well as all trainings provided to staffRespect and adhere to all company policies procedures and ethical standardsAttend and fully participate in all press days editorial board and section head meetingsStrive to foster a warm comfortable and respectful atmosphere for allRespect and adhere to all company policies procedures and ethical standardsAlways serve as a representative of the AMS and its mission statementMaintain timely communication with your direct supervisorComplete all assigned tasks efficiently and attentivelyComplete other duties as assignedJob RequirementsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environmentPossess strong organizational and interpersonal skillsWork ConditionsInteraction and collaboration with coworkers management and the Queens community
