About the opportunity

The University of Sydney ranked 19th globally in 2024 and #1 in Australia for graduate employability is seeking an experienced and resilient Education Support Lead to join the Faculty of Medicine and Health. This role will provide leadership and operational management for the education support team within the Sydney Dental School supporting academic staff teaching activities and curriculum delivery.

This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a high-performing team shape administrative processes and ensure excellence in student experience across the Sydney Dental Schooland Faculty of Medicine and Health. The role is primarily based atWestmeadHospital with occasional work at Sydney Dental Hospitaland our campus in Camperdown and requires a hands-on adaptable approach to managing a complex dynamic academic environment.

Please note that this position is split between Westmead Hospital and the Sydney Dental Hospital at Central.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide supervision line management guidance and support to direct reports including feedback coaching performance management and career development to build a high-performing team
  • manage staff performance and development ensuring professional development and training opportunities are in place to support effective work delivery and staff career progression
  • act as a resilient and confident leader navigating complex stakeholder relationships particularly within the academic environment ensuring clarity of boundaries and operationalobjectivesare maintained
  • coordinate and provide administrative support for complex timetabling and clinical education scheduling activities including logistical management and communication with students academic staff andLHDstakeholders
  • deliver operational support for teaching activities including assessment and examination delivery in line with School and Faculty requirements and University policies
  • lead continuous improvement of curriculum delivery and contribute to the development of innovative education initiatives.

About you

To be successful in this role you have:

  • sound experience in the supervision training mentoring and performance management of staff; and experience managing and resolving a diverse range of HR issues
  • experience working in a tertiary environment with working knowledge of using Learning Management Systems such as Canvas together with sound understanding of timetabling/rostering of student activities
  • the ability to apply specialist knowledge toidentify recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to education services and processes
  • the ability to deliver education services with operational agility mindful of the broader FMH context anddemonstratingan appreciation and readiness to adapt your approach in response to changing business needs
  • the ability to work both independently and as part of a team together with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and the ability to prioritize workload during busy periods
  • effective and tactful communication skills (both verbal and written) with excellent client focus and the ability to build partnerships with internal and external colleagues and partners and between the facultyprecinctand school teams
  • extensive knowledge ofUniversitypolicies and procedures and administrative processes within a tertiary environment and health environment.

Currently there is a requirement for thispositions to be on-site a minimum of 4 days per week with 1 day of hybrid working options will be decided by your manager if you are successful in this position.
