Job Summary

Position Purpose

The Purchasing Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient and effective procurement strategies tailored to meet the unique needs of our customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic procurement strategies that align with the companys long-term objectives optimizing supply chain efficiency and ensuring cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Lead the negotiation and management of supplier contracts to secure favorable terms optimize vendor relationships and enhance product quality across all purchasing categories.
  • Oversee the purchasing team fostering an environment that encourages professional growth while upholding the Companys values of employee empowerment and engagement.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify trends assess supplier performance and continuously improve procurement processes to drive innovation and maintain our competitive advantage.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to align purchasing activities with company goals ensuring a seamless flow of materials and services to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze purchasing metrics and KPIs to provide actionable insights for continuous improvement supporting the companys commitment to achieving excellence and setting industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies in purchasing activities safeguarding the Companys reputation and ensuring ethical sourcing practices.
  • Spearhead initiatives to introduce cutting-edge procurement technologies and tools positioning the Company as a forward-thinking leader in the industry and securing our legacy for future generations.

Direct Manager/Direct Reports

  • Reports to the Director of Procurement
  • This role will oversee a dedicated team of procurement professionals consisting of Purchasing Coordinators and Procurement Specialists who report directly to the Manager Purchasing

Travel Requirements

  • This role is required to travel quarterly to evaluate supplier relationships and ensure alignment with the companys strategic objectives.

Physical Requirements

  • This role primarily involves office-based work. The incumbent will be expected to perform tasks that require sitting standing and walking for prolonged periods. Regularly there will be a need to use standard office equipment such as computers telephones and other communication devices. The ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 25 pounds is necessary. This position requires clear and effective communication skills which include the ability to convey detailed information accurately in both verbal and written formats. Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration Supply Chain Management or a related field.
  • 5 years of proven Purchasing or Supply Chain Management experience
  • Strong negotiation and Vendor Management skills
  • Proficiency in Procurement software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Purchasing and Supply Chain regulations
  • Experience with budget management and financial analysis
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Supply Chain Management Business Administration or a closely related field is highly desirable demonstrating advanced knowledge and strategic insight into the complexities of procurement and supply chain operations.
  • Over 7 years of progressive procurement experience within the landscape supply or construction industry showcasing a deep understanding of market dynamics and vendor management practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in utilizing advanced Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to optimize purchasing processes and enhance overall supply chain efficiency.
  • Proven capability in leading and developing high-performing procurement team emphasizing mentorship and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a proven track record in leveraging data to inform purchasing strategies drive cost savings and assess risk management scenarios.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in advanced negotiation techniques with a successful history of securing favorable terms and establishing long-term beneficial supplier relationships.
  • Strong collaborative skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively across various departments to drive organizational goals and create synergies within the companys operational framework.
  • A strategic thinker with the capability to align procurement strategies with overall company objectives ensuring long-term sustainability and competitive advantage.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration Supply Chain Management or a related field.

Preferred Education:

  • Masters degree in Business Administration Supply Chain Management or a related field

Minimum Years of Work Experience

  • 5 years of relevant work experience in procurement or supply chain management demonstrating expertise in strategic sourcing vendor negotiation and inventory optimization.

Certifications

Required:

  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent.

Preferred:

  • Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP)
  • Certified Professional Purchasing Manager (CPPM)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
