Histotechnician II

Overview:

Performs necropsy and/or histology tasks on a variety of laboratory animals in compliance with the appropriate SOPs GLPs and regulatory guidelines

Monitors animal health and welfare in compliance with the Animal Health and Welfare Act and help maintain facilities for AAALAC compliance

Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs duties of necropsy

Performs histology (Include trimming decalcification processing embedding sectioning staining coverslipping and QC)

Performs necropsy and/or histology study responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned

Report all animal care concern s and become involved in the resolution and appropriate corrective action when necessary

Responsible for Tox sample management including handling transferring and inventory until archive.

Required:

Bachelors Degree in Life Sciences or Associate Degree in Histology Laboratory Animal Technology or Veterinary Technology plus twelve months experience; Experience may substitute for education

Certification as a Histology Technician by ASCP or an AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technician level is desirable

At least six months experience at the level equivalent to that of a Pathology Study Technician II
