The Muskingum County Library System is seeking a dedicated and community-minded individual to serve as our next Outreach Services Assistant. In this role you will be the face of the library beyond our physical walls delivering vital resources and literacy programs to homebound patrons seniors and underserved rural communities throughout Muskingum County.

Primary Responsibilities:
Plan coordinate and deliver MCLS Outreach services to homebound patrons seniors and rural or underserved communities. Manage patron records a rotating service calendar and conduct on-site visits at facilities and residences. Plan present and evaluate outreach programs and literacy initiatives for all ages tailoring engagement strategies to meet the needs of partner sites and underserved populations.
Develop maintain and expand community partnerships with schools agencies and senior organizations to increase awareness and use of library services. Maintain regular and responsive effective communication with partners.
Drive library vehicles including a cargo van and a 24-foot custom outreach vehicle to remote locations on predetermined routes and basic inspection and upkeep of library vehicles to ensure proper maintenance.
Work a flexible schedule including evenings weekends and occasional early mornings in various weather conditions. Select reading materials based on outreach location preferences and assist with the physical delivery loading and unloading of materials.
Maintain a visible presence at system-wide public events (e.g. festivals county fair) to promote library patrons with digital platforms like Libby and Hoopla on various devices.
Education & License Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required.
Library experience is preferred.
Must possess a State of Ohio Drivers license in good standing
Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
Library practices public service standards outreach and community-based service delivery readers advisory and partnership development.
Expertise in Readers Advisory and personalized service; creating age-appropriate programs; operating large vehicles; and proficiency with library systems digital platforms and computers.
Provide exceptional customer service and relate effectively to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
Physically load and unload crates and carts of materials daily.
Organize multiple schedules and work priorities while maintaining accurate records.
Work independently or with staff partners and volunteers.
Exhibit creativity in preparing informative and entertaining programs.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive subject matter.
Communicate effectively in both written and oral forms.
