Position Summary:
Immerse yourself in hands-on learning while gaining practical skills in woodworking metalworking and workshop management as the Metal and Wood Workshop Attendant. As a vital member of the Sustainable and Regenerative Living team youll have the opportunity to unleash your creativity learn new techniques contribute to a vibrant community of makers at MIU and share your knowledge by teaching others who come to the shop to use it.

Experience Gained / Advantages for the Student:
- Hands-on experience in workshop maintenance including cleaning organization and equipment maintenance.
- Gain familiarity with woodworking and metalworking tools materials and techniques enhancing practical skills applicable to various projects.

Job Responsibilities:
- Workshop Maintenance: Regularly clean and organize the workshop area including sweeping floors wiping down surfaces and disposing of waste materials. Ensure tools equipment and materials are properly stored and maintained.
- Customer Service: Greet customers and provide assistance with inquiries requests and project consultations. Offer guidance on workshop procedures safety protocols and available resources.
- Tool and Equipment Assistance: Assist craftsmen and workshop staff with setting up and operating woodworking and metalworking tools and machinery. Provide basic troubleshooting assistance and ensure customers safely use the equipment.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce workshop safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries. Conduct regular safety inspections identify potential hazards and take corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
Job Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a workshop environment is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of woodworking and metalworking tools materials and techniques is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain a clean orderly workshop environment.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects safely.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and promoting a culture of safety in the workshop.
