Job Summary

The Role

  • The Commercial Finance Lead for the Events division will play a pivotal role within Fastmarkets Commercial Finance team acting as both a process owner for financial reporting (Record-to-Report) and a finance partner to the Events business. This hybrid position is designed to drive financial insight ensure robust reporting and support commercial decision-making across all aspects of the Events division financial performance and reporting.

Principal Accountabilities

Finance Partnering

  • Serve as the primary finance partner to the Events leadership team providing commercial insight and challenge to drive business performance.
  • Deliver financial analysis scenario modelling and recommendations to support strategic initiatives for the Events division.
  • Lead budgeting forecasting and long-range planning for the Events division ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Translate financial data into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders fostering a culture of financial accountability.

Record-to-Report (R2R)

  • Own the end-to-end financial reporting process for the Events division ensuring accuracy timeliness and compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close activities including journal entries reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with the wider finance team to streamline and automate R2R processes leveraging best practices and technology.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls supporting audit and compliance requirements.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (including Commercial Marketing and Operations) to understand business drivers and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.
  • Support transformation projects including process improvement data quality initiatives and system enhancements.
  • Act as a change agent promoting the adoption of automation and digital tools within finance and the wider business.
  • Support audit and compliance requirements maintaining and improving internal controls.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including senior finance leadership in UK and R2R team part of the finance Hub in Sofia crossfinance and functional teams.
  • Build partnership with the Events leadership team to help support them to deliver on their business performance targets and understand the revenue and cost drivers within this business area

KEY INTERFACES

The reporting line is directly through the Commercial Finance team but key business contacts will be with the Events division led by SLT member as well as working closely with Financial Control R2R team

KNOWLEDGE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated driven and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.

  • Qualified accountant (ACA ACCA CIMA or equivalent) with strong technical knowledge of financial reporting and controls.
  • Proven experience in a commercial finance or business partnering role ideally within events media or a related sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end R2R processes and deliver high-quality financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights clearly.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with a collaborative proactive approach.
  • Experience with finance transformation automation or process improvement projects is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite (saved searches custom reports) and Salesforce data structures; familiarity with Snowflake is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
