Job Summary
Join Australias largest locally-owned media company as a Producer/Sub-editor for digital and print for The Sydney Morning Herald reporting directly to the Production this fast-paced part-time role you will be responsible for producing and publishing high-quality engaging content that aligns with our core values and meets rigorous breaking news deadlines.
Day to day you will:
- Review and sub-edit stories in the CMS with a focus on quality.
- Identify and correct errors while reworking copy with reporters and editors.
- Write engaging accurate SEO headlines precedes and captions to drive engagement.
- Enhance digital articles with photos videos graphics and multimedia assets.
- Collaborate with production and home-page editors to ensure smooth workflows.
- Monitor live blogs to ensure all real-time copy is error-free and high quality.
- Publish content across various shifts including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications :
What youll bring:
- Prior experience in sub-editing and production for online publishing platforms.
- Exceptional command of the English language including grammar and syntax.
- The ability to work with speed and precision under tight newsroom deadlines.
- A solid understanding of legal best practices including defamation and contempt.
- Experience in print production copy-fitting or basic page layout is desirable but is not essential.
- A collaborative mindset to build trust and connection with internal stakeholders.
- Curiosity and creativity to help evolve and innovate our trusted brands.
