Life Matters is Radio Nationals flagship daily live morning show where listener stories shape the national conversation about the issues that matter in their everyday lives.

About the role

Radio National is looking for a talented and energetic producer to join our crack Brisbane-based team. A key responsibility will be to generate well-researched sophisticated and comprehensive briefs that engage and inform an audience for Life Matters.

Experience in studio direction and operation for live interviews (panelling) or willingness to be trained is essential.
High-level organisational interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team under the pressure of a daily program are also essential.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

• Generate research and produce original story ideas interviews and panel discussions and talkback producing sophisticated and comprehensive briefs in a timely manner.
• Fault-free panel operation in a live environment and work effectively with presenter providing in-studio direction live to air as required.
• Publish stories for website and apps in a timely manner.
• Work with the digital team to help create social media content as required.

This role is based in Brisbane and requires working onsite in the office Monday to Thursday with the option to work from home on Fridays.

You are an outstanding journalist who loves making sense of the world around you for a curious and well-informed audience. You are a quick learner fast worker and strong team player with great people skills.

You have a proven track record and skills in research writing interviewing and producing varied longer form content for radio and/or online/print.
