Amazon Photos is seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager to define and deliver important programs with broad cross-organizational impact across Amazon Photos services. Your work will focus on very large engineering efforts that solve significantly complex or endemic problems. You will be trusted to operate with complete independence and will often be assigned to focus on areas where the business and/or architectural strategy has not yet been defined.
Key job responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and deliver programs with broad cross-organizational cross-business or significant technology impact across multiple VP organizations
- Architectural Influence: Drive architecture and/or organization changes that enable teams to work independently and achieve significant efficiency improvements
- Complex Problem Solving: Manage significantly complex cross-functional technology initiatives remediating critical and/or endemic problems
- Technical Excellence: Apply deep technical knowledge to improve technologies at massive scale (content processing ML model serving foundational services)
- Stakeholder Management: Partner effectively with all levels of leadership including VPs; manage escalations and represent complex decisions clearly to leaders up to 3 levels above
- Force Multiplication: Effectively force multiply by creating and optimizing critical mechanisms that ensure long-term program success
- Risk Management: Assess risk drive clarity and foster shared understanding by asking intelligent questions about proposed solutions
- Cross-Organizational Coordination: Identify gaps/opportunities between architectures and organizations (services workflows tooling) across the Amazon domains
- Process Innovation: Align teams and orgs toward simple coherent approaches; create/optimize cross-org structures and mechanisms
- Talent Development: Mentor team members perform TPM promotion assessments and participate in talent reviews
A day in the life
As a Principal TPM you will own the technology roadmap for a broad set of systems. You will lead the design implementation and delivery of highly complicated cross-functional projects in ambiguous or new technology areas. Your role requires driving strategic alignment across engineering product business and device teamsincluding integrations with Echo Show Fire TV Fire Tablet and future Amazon devices.
You will proactively drive business and system-level reviews aligning teams toward coherent technology strategies and effective engineering processes. Youll identify gaps and opportunities across architectures and organizations decomposing complex problems into straightforward solutions while minimizing redundant engineering efforts year-over-year.

The service comes with unlimited photo storage for Prime members and apps are available on iOS Android Web Desktop Fire Tablet & Fire TV. The service is also integrated into Alexa devices such as Echo Show. - Experience designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- 8 years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
