Job Summary

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for an Orthopaedic Plaster Technician to join our Outpatient Ward in a permanent full-time role.Based at our Springfield campus these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU maternity emergency and medical surgical services its set to care for over 200000 patients annually.

Salary range: $49.07 - $51.73 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15900access to many staff benefits!

What youll be doing

  • Apply remove and review casts splints plaster slabs synthetic slabs and orthopaedic appliances under medical direction.
  • Provide high quality patient care ensuring safe compassionate and effective treatment.
  • Conduct patient assessments and establish priorities for treatment in consultation with patients and clinical teams.
  • Act as a patient advocate ensuring informed consent and clear communication at all times.
  • Collaborate with medical nursing allied health and community services to deliver coordinated care.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control safety and confidentiality requirements.
  • Participate in clinics across Mater Health and support innovative models of care.
  • Continue to develop your professional skills and knowledge through training and education.

About you

  • An understanding of or ability to acquire knowledge of relevant anatomy plaster types and orthopaedic appliances is essential.
  • Current Blue card is essential.
  • Previous Plaster technician experience would be highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in hospital environment.
  • High-level interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage with internal stakeholders at various levels to achieve outcomes.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of or ability to acquire knowledge of relevant anatomy plaster types and orthopaedic appliances.
  • Strong understanding of hospital policies and procedures relating to infection control cleaning and plaster room operations.
  • Computer system knowledge including Verdi iPM Microsoft apps including Excel/Teams.
