Job Summary

Job Function/Purpose:

The Project Manager is responsible for guiding teams toward the delivery of successful project(s) spanning one or more vertical this role the Project Manager will allocate necessary resources define schedules and develop project budgets as part of their duties. This role manages arising issues risks and change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. The Project Manager defines all objectives within each of their projects while also overseeing quality in achieving these objectives throughout the project life cycle. The Project Manager will offer an extension of these duties to each Comtel Superintendent/ Lead Technician assigned to their team and provide support when needed. Additional responsibilities will include participation in process improvement initiatives along with secondary support to the overall company sales effort. The Project Manager works closely with the Operations Manager on continued development and education for all operational staff.

The salary range for this role is between $100000.00 USD and $135000.00 USD based on relevant factors such as education experience and other job related characteristics.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
  2. Administrate projects contractually including coordination and management of specialized requirements such as local participation requirements certified payroll etc. as required by such contracts and agreements.
  3. Manage each project to ensure conformance with plans and specifications and user defined requirements while maintaining cost objectives and maximizing gross margin and profitability.
  4. Complete project invoicing requests on a timely basis to ensure projects are billed at appropriate levels based on cost data and margin expectations.
  5. Coordinate with the Engineering Department to ensure the timely delivery of shop drawings equipment submittals as built drawings testing forms etc.
  6. Coordinate the timely procurement of materials tools and equipment to support project defined schedules and deadlines.
  7. Define project scope goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  8. Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  9. Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  10. Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals while maintaining cost effective staffing levels minimizing non-productive time and upholding professional and quality installation outcomes.
  11. Estimate project change orders and write proposals.
  12. Draft and submit revised project budgets and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  13. Coordinate with the management team to allocate project manpower resources.
  14. Set and continually manage project expectations and project budget with team members and other stakeholders.
  15. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  16. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
  17. Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  18. Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  19. Manage and track project milestones and deliverables including Weekly Customer Updates Submittals Shop Drawings Closeout Documents and Redline Drawings.
  20. Coordinate End User Training with the customer and the appropriate Comtel/Beacon employee(s).
  21. Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team analyze results and troubleshoot problem areas.
  22. Proactively manage changes in project scope identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.
  23. Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  24. Build develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project. Providing sales and marketing leads to Sales and Service as opportunities present themselves.
  25. Conduct project closeouts and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. Coordinate warranty start dates and the hand-off process with the Service Department following company SOP to ensure a smooth transition to Service.
  26. Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  27. Other duties as assigned by Management.

  29. Identify creative ways to deliver additional profit if possible.

Job Qualifications:

  1. Experience managing multiple team members within the industry is a plus.
  2. Technically competent with various software programs such as Microsoft Office including Outlook and Excel.
  3. Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment is essential.
  4. Able to conform to shifting priorities demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  5. Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  6. Flexible during times of change.
  7. Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  8. Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
  9. Must be able to learn understand and apply new technologies.
  10. The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  11. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in difficult situations with employees with various personalities and emotions.
  12. Must understand implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people. Is frequently called upon to handle difficult situations and be held accountable for project outcomes.

Education/Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Project Management or 8 years Low Voltage industry experience with 5 years supervisory experience in low voltage systems.

Work Environment:

1. Work environment can be an office environment medical facility educational facility or a customer site under construction renovation or warehouse space.

2. Job sites will have a variety of environmental factors including but not limited to noise dust and temperature changes

3. Employee must have the capability to transfer job sites as necessary.

Essential Functions:

  1. Requires prolonged sitting standing some bending stooping and stretching. Requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination for data input.
  2. Ability to read and understand construction blueprints.
  3. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  4. Ability to carry set up and traverse a ladder up to 12 feet in height.
  5. Must maintain a valid drivers license.
  6. Must maintain a clear background check to satisfy customer job site badging requirements.
  7. Must be willing to submit to all vaccinations and screening tests required for customer jobsite badging protocol.
  8. Maintain a clear drug and alcohol screening protocol.
  9. 20-30% travel requirement as needed.
