What will you do

  • Prepares for and facilitates a full range of programming with and for clients with a focus on outdoor pursuits such as but not limited to hiking rafting snowshoeing cross-country skiing climbing outdoor recreation and other seasonal outdoor pursuits with a focus on employment skill development.
  • Participates and operates within the outdoor-specific risk management plan and ensures all safety policies and procedures are followed and maintained during program delivery.
  • Prepares for and facilitates a full range of programming with and for clients ranging from more independent programs to more structured programming
  • Provides on-site coaching to clients while in programming and/or during volunteer or employment placements as required
  • Participates in program planning service design development and delivery in accordance with client goals Prospect policies and procedures FOIP and the client handbook
  • Works directly with Prospect clients and supports other Prospect direct service positions in working directly with Prospect clients to provide behavioural and programming support to teach and expand employability skills
  • Supports the creation progression and completion of goals for clients
  • Actively seeks out new partners in the community for the purposes of developing new programs/activities and opportunities as well as supporting fostering and maintaining existing relationships
  • Educates and promotes the role of Prospect to the community partner and the benefits of including persons with disabilities on their team or in their services/organization
  • Maintains strong working knowledge of accreditation standards including ensuring all CET standards are maintained and reflected in programming and program plans.
  • Works with the Program Manager Team Leads and Service Coordinators to maintain PDD PERCI Database information including client goal progress and attainment
  • Champions Prospects goals vision mission and brand pillars

What does it take to do this job

  • Degree or certificate in related field from a recognized post-secondary institution such as but not limited Outdoor Leadership/Education Eco-tourism Sport & Recreation Management social and/or human resources.
  • 1 years of experience in a similar role with a focus on outdoor recreation/leadership with demonstrated reliability shown in past positions/education.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management is considered a strong asset.
  • 40-hour Wilderness First Aid and OCC Level 1 Hiking certification or willingness to obtain required certifications within first three months of employment.
  • Additional outdoor-related certifications or licenses are considered an asset.
