Job Summary

We have partnered with a large engineering services company in the Metro DC area to provide them with a Senior Structural Engineer. Please review the description below and let us know if you are interested.

Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Senior Structural Engineer:

#1. B.S. degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program required.

#2. Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) required.

#3. 10 to 15 years of structural engineering experience.

#4. Experience leading project teams and client-facing consulting

#5. Consulting engineering / AEC background

Responsibilities of the Senior Structural Engineer:

Work closely with business development team in developing technical proposals.
Ability to perform the following functions:
structural analysis design and detailing on a variety of commercial & industrial projects
Design of steel concrete and masonry commercial/institutional federal and Industrial buildings both in new and existing construction.
Design experience with light gage steel and timber is a plus
Strong ability to interpret technical drawings
Lead design team
Manage project team for budget and schedule control
Develop fee and qualification-based proposals
Collaborate with the architect owner and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings.
Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Possess strong critical thinking organizational and analytical abilities.
Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint software preferred. Must understand database concepts. Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
Conduct marketing/business development activities
Positive contributor to overall office and department goals culture and morale.
Ability to travel
Work closely with other offices such as Raleigh Atlanta structural groups to complete projects and tasks.

Requirements of the Senior Structural Engineer:

B.S. degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program required.
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE).
10 to 15 years of structural engineering experience.
Experience with computer software programs and analysis systems (such as RISA AutoCAD Revit RamSS Etabs Enercalc etc.).
Excellent verbal written organizational and time management skills.
Project Management experience and/or certifications
Desire to lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teams
Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus
Active local industry involvement is a plus

Other Key Requirements:

Must be able to work in the office four (4) days a week
Willingness to travel for occasional site visits
No sponsorships or visa holders. No Corp-to-Corp.
