Legal & Compliance Specialist (Fixed-Term Contract)

Role Overview

A well-established organisation is seeking an experienced Legal & Compliance Specialist to join its Head Office team in Johannesburg on a fixed-term contract. The role is responsible for providing comprehensive legal support overseeing compliance frameworks managing legal risk and supporting governance processes across the organisation.

The successful candidate will be a confident legal professional with strong contract management regulatory compliance and stakeholder engagement experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general legal advice and support across organisational operations
• Draft review and negotiate commercial contracts SLAs MOUs MOAs and related agreements
• Oversee contract management processes and ensure legal compliance
• Attend to legal correspondence disputes summons and court processes
• Liaise with external attorneys legal advisors and company secretarial service providers
• Conduct legal research and provide opinions on regulatory and legislative matters
• Develop implement and monitor compliance programmes and frameworks
• Conduct compliance risk assessments and maintain compliance risk registers
• Monitor adherence to legislation policies codes and standards
• Compile compliance and legal reports for senior management and committees
• Support governance processes board and committee documentation
• Facilitate compliance training and awareness initiatives
• Provide ad hoc legal compliance and project support as required

Minimum Requirements

• LLB or equivalent legal qualification (NQF Level 7)
• Admitted Attorney or completed articles (advantageous)
• 8–10 years’ experience in a legal regulatory or compliance environment
• Strong experience in contract drafting and contract management
• Sound knowledge of South African legislation and compliance frameworks
• Experience in compliance monitoring programmes and risk management
• Strong communication analytical and stakeholder management skills
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel nationally when required
