NAM R&D Team LeaderYour role and responsibilities
In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABBs success with technology software product and system development. Each day you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.
The work model for the role is: Hybrid. May change to on-site depending on the needs.
This role is contributing to the Electrification/Service/R&D in Raleigh NC USA .
You will be mainly accountable for:
The Engineer will be responsible for the design development and manufacturing implementation of Medium Voltage (MV) and or Low Voltage (LV) Electrical Distribution product R&D programs using Gate Management process aligned to Service ANSI/NEMA Markets.
Plan execute and report on the technical design schedule and test results of a program with guidance from senior engineering resources
Design develop analyze and document product designs which meet the functional cost reliability manufacturability and safety requirements of the customer or market.
Create and maintain technical documentation for all design work and present material for technical review including but not limited to tolerance loops drawings bill of materials product cost problem and action lists risk management and failure root cause analysis reviews.
Prepare and maintain product documentation instruction manuals project notebooks and design and test documentation.
Arrange design reviews analyze concepts and cost effectiveness of the Mechanical/Electrical designs.
Coordinate engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing. Assist Purchasing on supplier selection and component evaluation.
Protect inventions following ABB intellectual property guidelines.
Responsible for tracking cost and reporting in ABB Project cost tracking system (NORRD)

Qualifications for the role
Bachelors Degree in Engineering plus 8 years of design experience in Electrical Distribution product lines related to Medium Voltage and or Low Voltage technologies.
You are highly skilled in Medium Voltage (MV) and or Low Voltage (LV) Electrical Distribution product line involving MV CBs and or LV ACBs/MCCBs/Switches or equivalent products using Parametric modelling tools - CREO/ Solidworks for ANSI/NEMA markets
Possess an enhanced knowledge of PLM systems i.e. Windchill exposure to SAP systems and working knowledge in UL/CSA/NEC/OSHA standards.
You are passionate about being Collaborative being curious and exhibit care as a team player.
You are at ease communicating in English
You hold current US VISA/work permit and authorized to work in US.
Require 10% travel (domestic as well as international).
