Role Overview
As a Senior Engineering Manager Voice you will own the engineering charter for Exotels large-scale real-time voice and telephony platforms. This is a people leadership role with strong ownership of reliability scalability and delivery for mission-critical voice systems.
You will work closely with Product Infra and SRE teams to ensure carrier-grade uptime and performance across Exotels voice stack.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Delivery
Own the engineering roadmap for voice platforms aligned with product goals
Translate roadmap into execution plans and deliver high-quality systems
Drive Agile execution sprint planning and delivery predictability
Track engineering health metrics (availability incidents latency defects)
Voice Platform Ownership
Own architecture and design of large-scale voice systems
Review code system design test strategies and deployments
Drive high availability fault tolerance and incident readiness
Partner with Infra/SRE on capacity planning and production stability
People Leadership
Hire mentor and grow backend/platform engineers
Own performance management feedback and career development
Build a strong ownership culture (you build it you own it)
Stakeholder Management
Work closely with Product CX Infra and Engineering leaders
Communicate progress risks and trade-offs clearly
Represent engineering decisions with business context
What Were Looking For
Must Have
12 years of engineering experience (BTech/MTech or equivalent)
3 years managing backend/platform engineering teams
Strong hands-on experience with Golang and/or PHP
Exposure to AWS
Experience building high-scale real-time distributed systems
Ownership of production systems with strict uptime SLAs
Experience delivering complex systems using Agile methodologies
Strong Plus
Experience with voice/telephony platforms CPaaS or real-time communication systems
Exposure to Kafka Redis PostgreSQL and distributed data stores
Experience with enterprise systems (contact centre CRM middleware)
Prior ownership of reliability incidents and SLAs
