Purpose of role:
The Test Environment Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management governance and coordination of the Non-Production environments required for our strategic Data program. This critical role ensures that the complex dual-landscape testing environments - spanning both the new Endeavour Data Platform on GCP and the legacy Data Platform (including integrated systems); are stable integrated secure and data-ready to support the programs transition timelines.
This role will strategically manage the environments for the program/ projects ensuring seamless data flow between the legacy data platform and Endeavour (EGL) new data platform managing dependencies for data refreshes and ensuring strict adherence to data security and PII masking policies.

Environment Strategy & Governance:
Develop and execute a comprehensive Test Environment Management Strategy specifically for the Data Program bridging the gap between the legacy Data Platform and the new Data Platform
Define and enforce environment standards for the new EGL DEV TEST and UAT environments
Collaborate with Architecture Data Privacy and Security teams to ensure environments adhere to the three-layer architecture and strict security/access controls.
Environment Management:
Oversee the setup configuration and maintenance of IT environments including development testing staging and production.
Develop and maintain the program environment strategy aligned to Endeavour Group standards and governance frameworks.
Define program environment lifecycle processes covering creation configuration refresh maintenance and decommissioning.
Implement and enforce environment standards and configurations to ensure consistency reliability and alignment to business requirements.
Monitor and optimize environment usage to ensure efficient resource allocation.
Coordinate environment usage ensuring conflicts are identified and resolved proactively.
Ensure alignment with organisational architecture security compliance and operational requirements.
Develop and implement strategies for environment management to support project and operational needs.
Plan for environment provisioning capacity management and lifecycle management.
Monitor and optimize environment performance to ensure high availability reliability and efficiency.
Implement and maintain environment monitoring tools and practices.
Oversee environment health monitoring dashboards issue resolution and continuous improvement activities.
Act as the primary contact for all program environment-related matters and manage dependencies across programs/projects
Coordinate the schedule and availability of legacy UAT and PRE-PROD environments to ensure they are available to feed data into new environments as per the program testing schedule.
Manage communication regarding Data Feed Timeliness and SLAs ensuring upstream data from legacy is available for ingestion into the new platform
Collaborate with development testing and BAU Squad teams to plan and schedule application and platform releases across various test environments.
Manage changes to Test environments including deployments patches and upgrades.
Address and resolve environment-related incidents and problems including and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Deployment Automation:
Develop and maintain automated deployment processes to streamline the release of applications and platforms.
Work with DevOps teams to implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Risk Security and Compliance Management:
Ensure IT environments are secure and comply with the organisational policies and regulatory requirements
Implement and enforce security measures and access controls
Identify and assess potential risks associated with releases and implement mitigation strategies.
Perform risk analysis to minimize the impact of releases on production systems.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive environment documentation diagrams and runbooks.
Provide regular reporting on environment availability usage risks issues and performance metrics.
Communication and Collaboration:
Foster effective communication and collaboration between development testing infrastructure and operations teams during the release process.
Ensure stakeholders are informed of environment status release progress changes and any potential issues.
Manage relationships with external service providers related to environment management.
Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and trends in environment management and release automation.
Proactively identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Training and Support:
Provide guidance and support to team members and other stakeholders on environment-related issues and best practices.
Conduct training sessions to improve understanding of environment management processes

Experience & Achievements:
Cloud Transformation: Managed test environments for major migrations involving GCP and BigQuery.
Scale Data Management: Delivered TDM strategies for massive datasets including automated masking.
Complex Transitions: Successfully navigated corporate demergers or separations with heavy legacy dependencies.
Hybrid Operations: Operated dual-landscape environments consuming production data from external third parties.
Experience & technical requirements:
Essential:
Experience in environment management release management or related roles within an IT or software development environment.
Strong knowledge of environment and release management methodologies and best practices.
Worked within a similar sized enterprise in a business/customer facing role
Strong relationship management.
Previous experience within Service integrator/vendor space.
Desirable:
Previous experience in retail industry
Service management frameworks (ITSM)
Experience with observability tools such as Dynatrace.
Certifications in Cloud (GCP Associate/Professional) or Service Management (ITIL).
