Emerging Fire Protection Engineer

AECOM is seeking an Emerging Fire Protection Engineer to join our growing Ohio Fire Protection Group based in Cleveland or Columbus Ohio. This position offers the opportunity to support and lead design efforts on complex and high-profile projects across several markets.

The Ohio Fire Protection Group supports a wide range of building types and industries giving engineers exposure to nearly every aspect of the fire protection profession. Our projects include federal and DoD facilities cultural centers airport infrastructure laboratory and cleanroom higher-education buildings historic renovations and industrial manufacturing sites. This diversity provides exceptional opportunities for technical growth and cross-market experience.

The selected candidate will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and architects across the U.S. and will play a key role in delivering technically sound code-compliant and innovative fire protection and life safety solutions.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Familiarity with NFPA standards and the International Building and Fire Codes
• U.S. citizenship due to the nature of the work
• Valid drivers license

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
• Experience designing sprinkler and/or fire alarm systems
