Our Air Traffic Solutions - Software Engineering Department (ATS-SED) has immediate early-career opportunities for talented Software Engineers to join a team of 120 Software Engineers that are developing and supporting our several Air Traffic Control Systems worldwide such as: STARS NWP AutoTrac Australia India Hong Kong. Our programs are safety-of-life air traffic management systems we have developed for the FAA and international equivalents for use by air traffic controllers controlling civil and military aviation. The focus of the Software Engineer 2 position is to be an active team member to support development integration and testing operational software components during all phases of the software lifecycle.

What You Will Do:

• Make complex fixes to solve problems or create significant enhancements with guidance from Subject Matter Experts in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Product Line software.

• Update SW process documentation and work instructions needed to meet ATS SEDs high maturity level software engineering standards and processes.

• Participate in agile processes and procedures to improve daily standups sprint planning sprint feature development retrospectives back log grooming and story pointing while using Atlassian tool suite.

• Work with the software team and leadership in a highly collaborative team environment requiring frequent multi-level communication with other engineering domain team members program management and external stakeholders.

What You Will Learn:

• How to develop unit test and deliver your software to the internal integration and test teams for inclusion in the product

• How to adhere to advanced software development methodologies and processes such as peer reviews unit test coverage development processes to add new/fix software into a large software baseline.

• How to participate in Agile/Scrum processes and use tools that assist the process

• How to collaborate within a multi-disciplined scrum team working on a common goal to adhere to the sprint schedule and sprint feature content.

Qualifications You Mast Have:

• Requires a Masters degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).

• The ability to obtain and maintain a issued security clearance is required

• U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizensare eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Agile/Scrum familiarity

• Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) and automated testing concepts with Test Driven Development (TDD) concepts

• Experience with commercial or open-source test automation tools environments and frameworks

• Familiar with Networking Protocols SNMP TDP/IP and other protocols

• Knowledge of Python SQL bash/ksh scripting and command line usage

• Flexibility and desire in learning new COTS tools processes or methodologies

• Good communication skills both written and verbal including formal presentations

• C/C Programming language in a Unix/Linux development environment and command line usage.

• Experience utilizing Microsoft products and tools.

• Experience in SW testing and debugging source code

• Experience with ClearCase/ClearQuest Jira and GIT configuration management tools.

• Experience working in a collaborative team environment that requires multi-level communication with other engineering program and external stakeholders.

The salary range for this role is 68900 USD - 131100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
