Role Overview

This role supports large-scale nuclear facility modification programs by ensuring that equipment control systems and procedures are designed in a way that is safe intuitive and compliant with nuclear human-factors requirements. The engineer provides oversight of vendor HFE activities across design installation and commissioning phases ensuring human-system interfaces support safe and effective plant operation.

Deliverables

Oversee and review vendor Human Factors Engineering (HFE) activities across engineering installation and commissioning phases
Review and approve human-machine interface (HMI) designs control room changes and related human-factors documentation
Perform and review HFE analyses such as task analysis workload assessment usability testing and verification & validation
Support installation commissioning and readiness activities by reviewing completion and commissioning documentation
Identify track and support resolution of significant HFE issues and support regulatory and inspection activities as required

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience performing Human Factors Engineering (HFE) work in the nuclear power industry in accordance with NUREG-0700
Hands-on experience developing or reviewing HFE Program Plans and applying HFE methodologies to engineering modifications
Experience reviewing vendor designs and providing subject-matter recommendations to engineering or design leadership
Nuclear industry experience supporting design refurbishment or modification projects involving control systems or operator interfaces
