About the role

The BI Team Lead is responsible for delivering business intelligence solutions within the Managed Tier from the acquisition and analysis of business requirements through to the design and delivery of high-quality BI products. The role ensures solutions effectively meet stakeholder needs and deliver measurable value to the organisation.

The BI Team Lead coordinates team workload enforces development standards supports technical delivery and manages the operational budget for BI delivery activities. This is a predominantly hands-on delivery-focused role translating established priorities into consistent high-quality reporting and analytics outcomes.

Our team works in close partnership with Digital and key business stakeholders with operations across Australia and North America to support safe reliable global operations.

Based in Bengaluru the BI Team Lead reports to the Head of Digital and is responsible for leading a team of BI developers. The role focuses on day-to-day team leadership quality assurance and the timely delivery of reporting and analytics products.

We work together to maintain Woodsides secure digital environment in support of our mission.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage the BI budget and cost tracking ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with delivery priorities.

• Stay informed on modern data visualization techniques and tools to guide the team toward high-quality contemporary solutions.

• Lead mentor and support a team of BI developers ensuring timely high-quality deliverables that meet business requirements.

• Oversee the end-to-end delivery of BI solutions from initial requirements and development through testing deployment and operational transition.

• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders including the DSC Data Science Manager DSC Data Manager Digital Business Partners and the Engagement & Discovery team to support coordinated delivery and value creation.

• Promote and enforce BI development standards best practices and data visualization guidelines across the DSC.

• Ensure adherence to data governance security standards and regulatory requirements in all BI development activities.

• Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor team performance delivery efficiency and continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 5 years experience as a BI Developer and approximately 8 years overall in BI delivery.

• Demonstrated leadership experience managing BI development teams and delivering complex BI solutions.

• Strong budget management and cost tracking capabilities.

• Solid understanding of modern data visualization tools techniques and best practices.

• Proficiency in monitoring tracking and reporting KPIs to assess BI team performance and delivery outcomes.

• Experience in the oil and gas industry is essential.

• Deep expertise in the Microsoft BI stack (Power BI Report Builder Fabric etc.).

• Experience working with Snowflake as a core data platform.

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science Information Technology Business Administration or related field

• Microsoft PL-300 certification

• Strong team leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to guide experienced BI developers.

• Excellent business engagement and requirements gathering capabilities.

• A collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams to support high-quality delivery.

• Solid understanding of data governance security standards and regulatory requirements.

• Effective communication skills for clearly articulating technical decisions delivery expectations and progress.
