Job Summary

What You Will Be Doing

  • Advise clients onfederal and state environmental regulations including CERCLA RCRA CAA NEPA SEQRA and related statutes.
  • Represent clients inenvironmental litigation permitting and regulatory compliancematters.
  • Structure negotiate and closecomplex commercial real estate transactions including acquisitions leasing and development projects.
  • Leadenvironmental due diligencefor M&A project finance and large-scale development transactions.
  • Draft and negotiateenvironmental provisionsin purchase agreements financing documents and development contracts.
  • Manage permitting processes involvingair water wetlands offshore infrastructure and utilities.
  • Support remediation andBrownfields redevelopmentand risk mitigation strategies for contaminated sites.
  • Collaborate with developers sponsors lenders consultants and internal legal teams to assessenvironmental risk and deal bankability.
  • Review and analyzePhase I & Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)and other third-party technical reports.
  • Provide strategic counsel onNYC Local Law 97 CLCPA carbon markets CCS projects and energy transition initiatives.
  • Work cross-functionally withreal estate land use energy and infrastructurepractice groups.

Experience You Will Need

  • Minimum8 years of U.S. environmental law experience.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from anABA-accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the New York State Bar; Connecticut or Massachusetts admission (or ability to waive in) preferred.
  • Strong experience withenvironmental permitting regulatory compliance and transactional environmental matters.
  • Demonstrated exposure toenergy infrastructure or large-scale real estate development projects.
  • Proven ability to manage complex matters involvingmultiple stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
  • Portable book of business is aplus but not required.
  • Ability to meet aminimum of 1800 billable hours annually.
