The Multilingual Paraprofessional supports Emergent Bilinguals (English Language Learners) by bridging the gap between instructional support and administrative compliance. This role involves assisting teachers in the classroom to provide language supports while ensuring all state and federal documentation for the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) is accurate and up-to-date

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Delivery and Assessment
Develop year-long Texas State standards-based unit plans and lesson plans that meet all students learning needs.
Use assessment data to modify short and long-term plans in order to promote all students academic performance.
Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of constant improvement.
Academic and Cultural Support
Collaborate with content and grade-level teams to promote an environment of critical thinking and academic rigor.
Establish and maintain working relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
Participate in the daily functions of the school such as morning lunch and afternoon supervisory duties.
Attend critical school events such as staff meetings open houses and parent-teacher conferences.
Develop individualized learning plans for students and communicate these plans to families in parent meetings and conferences.
Meet professional obligations including timeliness and consistency in meeting deadlines.

Instructional Support
Classroom Assistance: Support students individually or in groups to reinforce learning concepts and lesson assignments with appropriate language supports.
Material Adaptation: Adapt classroom lessons under the direction of the lead teacher and campus Multilingual Specialist to support student learning objectives.
Implementation: Deliver English Language Development lessons for newcomers and students at the beginning stages of learning English.


Administrative & Compliance Support
Documentation: Maintain physical and digital confidential LPAC records ensuring all student data is accurate for decision-making processes.
Data Management: Prepare documentation in program management platforms (e.g. Ellevation Skyward) prior to LPAC meetings to ensure accurate PEIMS coding.
Clerical Duties: Handle filing scheduling meetings and family outreach to support the Multilingual Education team.
Audit Readiness: Request and maintain files (permanent records agendas) to provide a clear audit trail for state and federal compliance.
Language Assessment Support: Help administer language assessments needed for identifying or reclassifying Emergent Bilingual students.


Qualifications :

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Demonstrated knowledge of core subject area assigned
Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for level and/or subject area of assignment if applicable*
Must be considered highly-qualified based on NCLB guidelines if applicable

*A valid Texas Teachers certificate is required for all Pre-K4 and Special Education teaching positions. Proof of licensure will be required prior to starting employment. For more information about obtaining certification click here.
Required: Highly Qualified Paraprofessionals must have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent and meet one of the following requirements:

o Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as completion of 48 semester hours or equivalent trimester hours) of college coursework or an applicable number of semester hours as defined by the institution of higher education attended whichever is less;
o Possess an associates (or higher) degree; or
o Meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate through a formal state or local academic assessment

The Paraprofessional must also meet the states Paraprofessional certification exam and requirements. Paraprofessionals whose duties consist solely of parent and family engagement activities or translation services are exempt from the qualification requirement.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of related experience.
Preferred: Three (3) years of data entry and verification.
Preferred: Bilingual and Biliterate (Spanish preferred).
Preferred: Experience with data systems like PEIMS TSDS or Ellevation.

Reports to school site Monday-Friday.
Typical school environment with frequent interruptions.


Travel Requirements:
Minimal travel; may travel to other school sites or regional offices for professional learning or meetings.
