The RFF summer internship programprovides an opportunity for studentstoprepare forcareers that engage in academic and policy-relevant research. Interns are essential members of the Resources for the Future (RFF) Research and Policy Engagement team. Theyare responsible forproviding technical support that under the direction of RFF Fellows allowsfor the production ofcompelling and impactful research that aligns with RFFs mission of improving environmental energy and natural resource decisions through impartial economic research and policy engagement.
Our research internships are a 10-week programpaid at $20-$26an hourfor up to 35 hours a week. Applications will be open untilFebruary20. Interviewswill be conductedbeginning in March with hiring decisions made byApril24. Internships will run fromJune152026through August21 2026. Start or end dates can be changed with an approved exception.
All internships will be conducted in RFFs offices in Washington DC.

Project Summary:
Summer Research Intern (PAID):Medium- and Heavy-Duty Vehicle Model Development
We are seeking an intern tosupportthe development of a model of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles (MHDV)working withNafisaLohawala(Fellow) and Joshua Linn (Senior Fellow).Transportation makes up about 30% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions with MHDVs playinga big roletransporting a high volume of people and intern willwork with RFFs Transportation Program to further our work ontheFramework for Large-Scale Economic Evaluation of Trucking (FLEET)model which aims to simulate scenarios given different transportation policies and market intern will contribute findings to an academic paper and depending on circumstances may have the opportunity to continue collaborating with the Fellows on the paper beyond the paid internship.
