Essential Functions Responsibilities & Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Provides expert-level support and leadership for the Defense Health Agencys Operating System Deployment (OSD) services within the Enterprise Management framework.
- Serves as a top-tier specialist in designing implementing and maintaining advanced OSD solutions across the DHAs global network encompassing military hospitals medical clinics and dental clinics.
- Develops and oversees sophisticated OSD strategies and methodologies to ensure efficient secure and standardized operating system deployments across approximately 250000 end-user devices and 3000 physical and virtual servers at 250 sites worldwide.
- Aligns OSD processes with DHAs architectural and technical designs for IT infrastructure systems ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements Risk Management Framework (RMF) and various DoD strategies including Zero Trust ICAM Digital Modernization and Cybersecurity Reference Architecture.
- Leads efforts in automating and optimizing OSD processes leveraging advanced scripting imaging technologies and deployment tools to improve efficiency reduce downtime and enhance security.
- Develops and maintains complex OSD task sequences images and driver packages to meet the diverse needs of DHAs IT environment.
- Provides expert-level support for integrating OSD with other enterprise management systems including identity and access management security controls and application deployment.
- Plays a crucial role in planning and executing large-scale OS migrations and upgrades across the DHA network. Manages and optimizes the OSD aspects of the common system framework for centrally deploying supporting and monitoring operating systems.
- Ensures all OSD solutions maintain high availability reliability and security across DHAs environments.
- Contributes significantly to Configuration Management Change Management and Knowledge Management processes developing comprehensive technical documentation for all OSD procedures and best practices.
- Participates in the accreditation of operational environments ensuring deployed operating systems meet all necessary security and compliance standards.
- Works independently providing guidance to lower-tier OSD teams and collaborating with other high-level technical experts across various IT disciplines.
- Must be prepared to support 24-hour operational requirements as needed and contribute to maintaining the stability and continuity of the DHAs IT services.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related technical field. Advanced degree (Masters) preferred.
- Relevant high-level certifications (e.g. Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert MCSE: Core Infrastructure or equivalent) are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in enterprise operating system deployment and management with at least 5 years in a Tier 3 or equivalent senior technical role.
- Should have extensive experience in managing complex large-scale OSD projects preferably in military or healthcare settings. Demonstrated expertise in advanced OSD techniques automation tools and implementation of enterprise-wide deployment solutions is required.
