Position Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support the Head Tennis Coach in fostering student-athlete growth through skill instruction practice and competition oversight and performance monitoring while fulfilling Campus Security Authority (CSA) obligations.

SUMMARY

The Assistant Athletic Coach is to assist the Head Coach in all assigned and/or auxiliary duties in their respected sports program. This position is a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Clery Act. Assist the head coach with instructing players in the rules regulations equipment and techniques of the sport. Assess players skills monitor players during competition and practice and keep the head Coach informed of the athletic performance of the students.

Education and Experience required to ensure success in this position:

  • A bachelors degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.

Experience required to ensure success in this position:

  • Multiple years of coaching at a racket club or High School/College

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists in the recruiting of all potential student-athletes.
  • Complies fully with NCAA Collegiate Conference of the South and Maryville College policies.
  • Establishes good rapport and generates respect among students campus colleagues and the local community by conducting oneself in an ethical manner.
  • Assists in the supervision scheduling and maintenance of facilities.
  • Attends all practices meetings and contests.
  • Assists in the organization and supervision of all off-campus trips.
  • Maintains office hours as assigned by the head coach.

Other:

NOTE: Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive respectful learning environment for all staff faculty and students.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Able to read and interpret documents manuals and instructions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written oral and diagram form.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to write routine reports and other correspondence.

License Certification or Registration Necessary:

  • A valid Tennessee Drivers License.
  • Once hired must get certified to drive a Maryville College van

Physical requirements

  • Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds.
  • Specific vision requirements including close distance and peripheral vision.

Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:

  • 15 passenger van
