A DAY IN THE LIFE

Our Unmanned Aircraft System Operator (Pilot) position is located in Florida.

As a member of the Montrose Environmental Solutions team this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

  • Operate small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) for aerial surveys mapping wildlife habitat and wildlife activity.

  • Maintain aerial and support equipment in accordance with FAA regulations and Advisory Circulars.

  • Ensure compliance with all local state and federal regulatory requirements including the preparation of permits for activity within secure and controlled space

  • Follow US Fish and Wildlife Service and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission guidelines when surveying protected wildlife.

  • Follow established industry safety guidelines and company policies while operating sUAS.

  • Provide high-quality aerial imagery for analysis and reporting.

  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to support project needs.

  • Maintain detailed records of drone operations including flight logs and maintenance schedules.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues with sUAS equipment as needed.

  • Stay current with advancements in sUAS technology and industry best practices.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid certificate in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (Part 107).

  • Proven experience as a drone operator preferably in the telecommunications sector.

  • Proficiency in sUAS operation including flight planning and data collection.

  • Familiarity with sUAS mapping and flight automation software.

  • Previous experience coordinating and communicating with Air Traffic Control (ATC) during operations.

  • Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain sUAS and support equipment effectively.

  • Strong communication skills in English; ability to work collaboratively within a team environment or independently as needed.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • High level of technical adaptability with experience using numerous software applications and technology platforms.
