DescriptionThe Department of Social Sciences at Claflin University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We welcome applicants from all areas of psychology.
The successful candidates will:
- Teach undergraduate courses across the psychology curriculum including introductory research methods/statistics and advanced courses in their area of expertise.
- Develop and teach specialized courses related to forensic psychology criminal behavior substance use or rehabilitation (depending on area of expertise).
- Mentor psychology majors.
- Engage in an active program of research and scholarship with opportunities for student collaboration.
- Seek external funding to support research and program development.
- Contribute to departmental growth including efforts toward the development of graduate programs in psychology.
- Provide service to the department university and profession.
Opportunities for online teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration are available.
Qualifications- PhD in Psychology (ABD considered with expected completion by August 2026).
- Evidence of excellence in teaching at the college/university level.
- Strong record (or potential) of scholarly productivity.
- Commitment to student-centered learning mentoring and community engagement.
- All specializations are encouraged to apply;
- Experience with teaching and retention of varied student populations.
- Knowledge about using AI and or modern technologies in psychology
- Experience with innovative and engaging teaching strategies that will focus on the needs of 21 century students
