Description

The Department of Social Sciences at Claflin University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We welcome applicants from all areas of psychology.

The successful candidates will:

Teach undergraduate courses across the psychology curriculum including introductory research methods/statistics and advanced courses in their area of expertise.
Develop and teach specialized courses related to forensic psychology criminal behavior substance use or rehabilitation (depending on area of expertise).
Mentor psychology majors.
Engage in an active program of research and scholarship with opportunities for student collaboration.
Seek external funding to support research and program development.
Contribute to departmental growth including efforts toward the development of graduate programs in psychology.
Provide service to the department university and profession.

Opportunities for online teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration are available.

Qualifications

PhD in Psychology (ABD considered with expected completion by August 2026).
Evidence of excellence in teaching at the college/university level.
Strong record (or potential) of scholarly productivity.
Commitment to student-centered learning mentoring and community engagement.
All specializations are encouraged to apply;
Experience with teaching and retention of varied student populations.
Knowledge about using AI and or modern technologies in psychology
Experience with innovative and engaging teaching strategies that will focus on the needs of 21 century students
