Niyam IT is seeking a full timeControllerto join our team.This position is hybrid to Fairfax VA. The Controller provides senior-level financial leadership for the organization overseeing all accounting operations and ensuring the integrity accuracy and compliance of financial reporting within a government contracting environment. This role is responsible for internal controls audit readiness financial strategy execution and advising executive leadership while maintaining hands-on oversight of complex accounting functions.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting operations including AP AR payroll expense reporting and general ledger.
  • Lead
    monthly quarterly and annual close processes including financial statements reconciliations and analyses.
  • Configure and manage Deltek Costpoint structures (orgs segments projects accounts PLCs and charge codes) aligned with contract SOWs and modifications.
  • Oversee client invoicing indirect expense pools rate structures and variance analyses.
  • Develop and monitor
    annual budgets and rolling forecasts ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and ensure ongoing compliance with GAAP FAR CAS and DCAA.
  • Lead DCAA audit readiness responses and ongoing compliance initiatives.
  • Drive automation standardization and continuous improvement across accounting and billing processes.
  • Manage external financial audits and coordinate responses with auditors and stakeholders.
  • Oversee tax compliance activities including filings payments and year-end reporting.
  • Provide leadership mentorship and performance oversight for accounting staff.
  • Serve as a
    strategic advisor and business partner to the CFO and executive leadership.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
  • 8 years of progressive accounting experience within government contracting.
  • Expert-level understanding of GAAP FAR CAS DCAA and federal procurement regulations
  • Strong leadership management and supervisory capabilities.
  • Proven ability to design implement and maintain
    robust internal control systems.
  • Expertise in financial statement preparation analysis and executive-level reporting.
  • Strong budgeting forecasting and indirect rate management skills.
  • High ethical standards and sound professional judgment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 Deltek Costpoint and integrated business systems.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and operate effectively in a regulated environment.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • CPA or similar professional certification.
  • 5 years of Deltek Costpoint experience.
