DescriptionPosition Title: Graduate Assistant for Athletics/Mens and Womens Cross Country
Supervisor: Head Mens and Womens Cross Country Coach
Responsibilities
Assist the Head Coach during cross country indoor track and outdoor track seasons in
the areas of:
- Attendance at all competitions practices and team events
- Supervision of student-athletes at practices and competitions
- Transportation of student-athletes to competitions and off-site practices
- Program administration budgetary compliance and fundraising
- Development of training and conditioning programs
- Assessment of student-athlete performance and progress
- Evaluating student-athlete performance; counseling coaching and correctingstudent-athletes in order to improve performance
- Recruiting - attendance at select high school competitions contacting potentialstudent-athletes and tracking status of recruiting efforts
- Attendance at all Athletic Department coaches meetings
Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director
Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelors degree and 3.0 or above overall GPA
- Admission into a Cumberland University masters program
- Previous collegiate distance running experience and an interest in pursuing a career in athletic coaching
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word PPT Excel)
- Strong work ethic and committed to the development of student-athletes in accordance with the whole person concept
Anticipated Start Date
Remuneration
- Full tuition waiver (no room and board waiver books or fees)
- Professional growth opportunities
Hours
- Required 20 hours a week for term of graduate program
- Must have flexible hours
