Position Overview:

The Certified Medical Assistant for NARAs Hepatitis-C program will provide direct patient care and carry out assigned clinical tasks in both clinic outreach settings collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient centered care and assist in connecting clients to necessary services. This role involves close collaboration with medical mental health and substance use recovery teams to ensure each client receives comprehensive coordinated care. The Medical Assistant assigned to Hep C Initiative is responsible for performing daily outreach clinical and administrative tasks supporting the overall goals of the Hepatitis C Elimination Initiative Pilot Program as well as assisting in clinical workflows while in clinic to keep the clinic running smoothly

What you will do:

  • Carries out tasks such as patient intake vital sign collection risk screening phlebotomy and point-of-care testing for HCV HIV and STIs following the NARA NW MA Competency Guidebook.
  • Responsible for accurate charting maintaining clean exam areas and assisting with follow-up tasks as needed.
  • Participates in community outreach and plays a supportive role in connecting patients to needed services and resources through extensive Patient Navigation.
  • Work at multiple locations including outdoors during Outreach Collaborations.
  • Prepare clients for treatment procedures follow up examinations as needed.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with clients served and provide close monitoring of progress through extensive Patient Navigation.
  • In Clinic obtains pertinent information rooming patient visits takes vital signs (height weight blood pressure) and record in medical chart and takes urine samples when indicated.
  • Perform or prepare for other procedures as needed such as EKGs injections and hearing or vision tests.
  • Performs other CLIA-waived laboratory testing as needed such as urinalysis urine HGB or HCG rapid strep Flu Covid RSV and blood glucose.
  • Maintain and stock medical admin and other supplies needed for outreach and daily operations.
  • Clean examination rooms after each use and prepare room for the next client.
  • Complete all necessary reports or documents.
  • Make all referral appointments.


Qualifications

We would like to hear from people that have:

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • Minimum of two years of recent paid experience preferred performing the responsibilities noted above.
  • Must have CPR certification annually.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients the community and other staff members.
  • Work collaboratively with clients other NARA staff team members and to treat everyone with respect and dignity at all times.
  • Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community is considered a plus
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
  • Ability to pass criminal background and DMV checks.
