JOB TITLE:Specialist-Pest Control
REPORT TO:Director-Building Operations
WAGE/HOUR STATUS:Nonexempt
PAY GRADE:Aux 9
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Specialist-Pest Control is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the districts IPM program in compliance with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) guidelines. Result will be a safe clean and efficient building environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- High School graduate or GED
- Valid Texas drivers license
- Valid certification as a commercial or non-commercial applicator granted by the Texas Structural Pest Control Board (TSPCB) with following categories: Lawn and Ornamental Weeds Termites Pest Control Inside
- Five (5) years of experience as a Pest Control Technician
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
Preferred:
- Three (3) years of experience adhering to TDA IPM guidelines
SPECIAL NOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Knowledge of methods and materials for pest control and TSPCB regulations
- Ability to operate pesticide application equipment
- Ability to manage personnel
- Effective planning and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communications skills
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Duties:
- Serve as the Districts identified IPM Coordinator ensuring full compliance with all TDA regulations.
- Manage the implementation of the IPM program throughout the District.
- Supervises Pest Control Technicians.
- Maintain comprehensive IPM records including application logs inspection reports and monitoring data.
- Ensure all pesticides used in the district comply with TDA requirements including proper labeling application and storage.
- Complete annual TDA IPM Program updates and meet all continuing education and training requirements.
- Maintain and update all required IPM licenses and certifications as mandated by the TDA.
- Manage and organize Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all pesticides and ensure they are accessible as required by law.
- Provide training and education to district administrators staff and custodians on IPM principles and safe practices.
- Work with district departments to implement preventive pest control strategies focusing on sanitation exclusion and monitoring.
- Coordinate pest control activities with outside contractors when necessary ensuring they meet district and TDA standards.
- Monitor and assess pest activity within district facilities and develop action plans as needed.
- Authorize emergency treatments as provided for by the SPCB guidelines.
- Adhere to all industry and District safety policies and procedures.
- Respond to work orders issued for interior pest control and participates in the application of pesticides for pest/insect control
- Responds to emergency call outs as needed
- Drive District vehicle to perform assigned duties.
- Perform project work and special assignments as assigned
Work Environment:
- Required to use chemicals daily
- Noise levels are normal
- Some outside work
- Work inside without air conditioning
Personal Protective Equipment:
Chemical resistant gloves goggles face shield bump hat respirator and back support belt
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be available for emergencies anytime of the day or night. The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following: frequent walking standing climbing and heavy lifting (50lb or more) and carrying. Work outside and inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces and ladders. Work alone as well as with other team members. Environmental Conditions: Required to use chemicals daily working in extreme weather conditions (with and without air conditioning depending on facility requirements). Overtime is required as necessary.
