Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Dietician / Nutrition Specialist to join an inpatient healthcare team in Syracuse NY. This role focuses on providing comprehensive medical nutrition therapy and nutrition assessments across the lifespan supporting improved patient outcomes reduced length of stay and overall quality of care in an inpatient and critical care setting.

Work Schedule

Shift: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
Schedule: Monday through Friday
Weekend Coverage: Required (as scheduled)

Preferred Qualifications

2 years of experience in Inpatient and/or Critical Care Nutrition
CNSC (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician) certification preferred
Experience providing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) in an inpatient hospital setting
Strong documentation skills within electronic medical records (EMR)

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and comprehensive nutrition assessments for:
- Infants pediatric adolescent adult and geriatric patients
Assess nutritional status using validated screening tools including the Malnutrition Screening Tool (MST)
Identify diagnose and document malnutrition implementing appropriate nutrition interventions and monitoring plans
Develop and monitor individualized nutrition care plans to improve nutritional status reduce medical costs and shorten length of stay
Utilize physician or facility-driven protocols to:
- Initiate or modify diet orders supplements and nutrition-related medications
- Implement diet and texture modifications based on clinical needs and patient preferences
- Order and monitor nutrition-related laboratory tests as appropriate
Manage nutrition support therapies including:
- Enteral and parenteral nutrition (formula selection rate adjustments)
- Addition of vitamins minerals medications and supplemental water as clinically indicated
Participate in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives and interdisciplinary teams
Attend departmental meetings patient care rounds staff development sessions and professional education programs
