Food Service Worker

Mt. Blue High School

Position Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the kitchen manager and food service director cooks prepares cuts chips and sliced ingredients. Accurately operates Point of Sale system (cash register) during meal periods. Assists in maintaining an orderly and safe atmosphere in the cafeteria kitchen and storage areas.

Essential Functions:

Assists in making sure that tables and surrounding areas are clean.
Assists in operating cash register makes change processes meal and other payments.
Assists students w/food purchases distribution of food disposal of food waste and return of trays/utensils.
Maintains clean and orderly work areas in accordance with food code and district policies.
Cleans kitchen washes dishes and assists in meal preparation and service.
Completes other tasks as assigned by kitchen manager.

Ability to count and make change.
Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds up to waist level.
Ability to maintain composure and perform responsibilities under pressure.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others in the course of work.
Ability to maintain confidentiality about students in accordance with applicable laws regulations and district guidelines.

Physical and Mental Demands Work Hazards:

Works in commercial kitchen with mixers chippers ovens steamers and slicers.

Qualifications Profile:

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

Certification/License:

Motor Vehicle Operators (DMV) License or ability to provide own transportation.
Valid CHRC
Serv-Safe (or equivalent) food safety certification (preferred but not required)

Experience:

Successful prior experience working as a lunch or food service work preferred.
