Description of Work
This is an exempt managerial position.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $73096 - $142538
Knowledge of planning and implementing an aviation program for the purpose of emergency response focusing on wild land fire and integrated pest management.
Ability to obtain an in-depth knowledge of the fire danger rating system fire behavior forest fire suppression strategy and tactics and the Incident Command System (ICS) with respect to aviation support of wild land fire suppression.
Skilled in staff supervision budget management and program management.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of stakeholder groups in other state agencies other states and federal agencies.
Ability to supervise plan (short and long range) assign and review the work of others.

Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and a minimum of 2000 hours of flight time in a closely related type of aircraft and/or type of mission along with a minimum of six years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Certification as a FAA commercial or airline transport pilot in airplanes and/or rotorcraft and possession of a FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
May also require certification as a flight instructor and ratings in multiengine (land) instrument flying or others as designated.
