Duties and Responsibilities

(NOTE: ** denotes Essential Functions)

  • **Analyzes and evaluates business processes and software applications to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • **Acts as a liaison between technical teams and functional users translating high-level business needs into detailed technical requirements.
  • **Develops a thorough understanding of business operations to guide the development of new and existing systems and enhancements.
  • **Manages all phases of assigned projects including planning implementation system testing and user training.
  • **Creates and maintains project timelines and technical plans ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • **Plans and executes user acceptance testing (UAT) including developing test scripts tracking issues and verifying and reporting results.
  • **Supports the development and maintenance of business software and applications performing tasks related to production support system upgrades enhancements and documentation.
  • **Analyzes and defines system requirements creating logical workflows data structures and interface specifications for new and existing systems and enhancements.
  • Provides backup support to help desk staff as needed.
  • **Develops refines and maintains user guides and training materials.
  • **Leads and presents training sessions for various user groups to ensure understanding of new and existing systems and processes.
  • **Documents system features and functionalities to develop materials aligned with business processes.
  • **Communicates and collaborates with staff at all levels to determine system information needs data flows and definitions.
  • **Communicates with supervisor and other team members as requested to provide regular updates on project milestones challenges and timelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Professional Work Experience

  • Possession of a pertinent baccalaureate educational degree in Business Analytics Project Management Management Information Systems Information & Computer Science and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities forbusiness analysis of which two (2) years of the experience must have been comparable in scope and complexity to the next lower payband in the University of Hawaii broadband system; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Considerable working knowledge of administrative systems analysis as demonstrated by the broad knowledge and understanding of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving information technology concepts principles and methodologies.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the broad technology systems hardware and software associated with research federal regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes and apply principles and practices to determine evaluate integrate and implement practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals

Supplemental Minimum Qualifications
  • Considerable working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of modeling flow charting and procedural report presentation using tools such as Visio etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies independently and in a timely manner using books manuals and other resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak read comprehend interpret and write fluently in English.
  • Ability to work outside normally scheduled work hours including day night weekend and/or holiday hours as directed.
  • Proven ability to assess document and analyze current and future business processes.
  • Skilled at eliciting analyzing documenting and managing functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate with team members and stakeholders effectively to resolve issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct training for varying group sizes online and in person.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in managing electronic information and/or research administration.
  • Working knowledge of administrative policies/procedures of a public/private institution of higher education.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Jira myGRANT InfoEd Cognos eProtocol and/or Topaz systems.
