Job Summary
As of September 9 2024 we are at capacity for our 2025-26 substitute teacher eligibility pool. This number is always changing so we will continue screening applications and interviewing candidates as the need arises. DESCRIPTION:
Substitute teachers receive short term assigments to cover teacher absences from classroom and are responsible for following lesson plans to maintain and further student learning. Successful applicants will receive assignments throughFrontline substitute scheduling system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position requires at minimum a 30 day Substitute Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
- Candidates can qualify to apply for this Permit if they have a Bachelors degree
- All Candidates need to have a Certificate of Clearance on the CTC before being authorized to work. This link will lead tothe information candidates needto fulfill this requirement.
Important InformationRegarding the Basic Skills Requirement:
- On June 29 2024 Governor Gavin Newsomsigned a budget trailer bill SB 153 (Chap. 38 Statutes of 2024) that allows candidates to use their bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (IHE) as demonstration of the basic skills requirementeffective immediately.PSA 24-07:outlines theBachelors Degree froma regionally accredited institution of higher education (IHE) as demonstration of the Basic Skills Requirement.
REQUIREMENTS FOR HIRE
All applicants must:
- Complete application for this position (including two references including one from a Supervisor)
- To expedite hire processing candidates may gather the following materials -(these will be requested during onboarding):
- Negative TB test current within past 60 days
- Sealed copies of all college transcripts
- Valid Drivers License ID card Permanent Residency Card or current US passport
- Social Security Card (no copies)
All hires are contingent on applicant passing criminal background check.
