The Lac La Ronge Indian Bands Woodland Wellness Centre is inviting applications for the following positions based out of the Treatment Department in La Ronge SK:
Support Worker - Treatment
3 Permanent Full-Time
The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
- Welcome participants to the Centre conduct admission process and provide initial orientation;
- Supervise and direct participants as required following the WWC policy and procedures;
- Supervise and support participant in their homework and activities;
- Coordinate fire drills and facilitate evacuation drills as needed;
- Maintain sidewalks in the absence of maintenance worker (shoveling and/or snow blowing);
- Be open to supporting participants in First Nations cultural and non-cultural activities which support healing session objectives (eg: smudging crafts recreation videos cultural activities drumming);
- Monitor and Document participant administered medications and personal belongings;
- Transport participants to appointments activities and meetings in a CVA (sometimes under dangerous road conditions eg: snow and ice);
- Report and record critical incidents according to Centre policies and procedures;
- Maintain daily activity log communication book and shift-change reporting;
- Prepare participant related forms and ensure all participant related forms are completed;
- All other work-related duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
- Minimum of 2 years experience in similar position;
- Knowledge willingness and understanding of First Nations customs and traditions is an asset;
- Lifestyle choices including sobriety and abstinence from drugs and gaming consistent to the role will be a strong asset;
- Previous experience working in a First Nations health or treatment center environment considered an asset;
- Effective verbal and writing communication skills;
- A positive and professional approach towards participants fellow staff and public;
- Problem solving/critical thinking skills and Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Must have a Valid Class 5 Drivers License and own a reliable vehicle;
- Must provide a satisfactory and recent; Criminal Record Check Vulnerable Sector Check SGI Drivers Abstract
