There will also be the possibility to teach both English Language/Literature at MYP level. Key Responsibilities

Teacher of English Responsibilities

  • Teach English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to mixed ability groups of bilingual and multilingual students requiring language support.
  • Deliver engaging and effective English lessons across the Middle Years Programme (MYP).
  • Assess track and monitor the language development of EAP students across the curriculum collaborating on bespoke MYP units as required.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies focused on inquiry-based learning to enhance student engagement.
  • Foster a genuine love for language and literature among students of all abilities.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of both the EAP and English faculty
  • Commit to continuous professional development particularly in integrating digital skills into teaching and learning.
  • Promote experiential learning with an emphasis on opportunities for language application and critical thinking.

Pastoral Care

  • Serve as a tutor for a group of approximately 30 students supporting their holistic development through pastoral work.

Extra-Curricular Contributions

  • Actively participate in extra-curricular events and activities either through personal interests or in support of student-led initiatives.

Educational Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Education or a Bachelors Degree in English/Linguistics/Humanities with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching English across age and ability range.
  • Proven track record as an excellent classroom teacher with experience in MYP IGCSE and IB Diploma curriculum.
  • Specific qualification and/or proven experience teaching English as an Additional Language / English for Academic Purposes (EAL/EAP) is essential.
