Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Tool & Fixture Specialist (Level C) to join our team in New Orleans LA

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs complex tool setup activities (e.g. alignment leveling).
  • Performs visual inspections on tools using appropriate documentation.
  • Makes major repairs.
  • Manufactures assembly and fabrication tools using various manual and computer controlled machines hand tools and precision alignment equipment.
  • Operates various factory support equipment to move materials and tools as required.
  • Provides tooling support to other organizations.
  • Designs various part fabrication and assembly tools per part engineering drawings or customer requests to enable production using computer or paper tool design processes.
  • Determines fabrication and assembly processes for the design.
  • Reverse engineers designs and fabrication processes for parts.
  • Demonstrates functionality of complex fabrication and assembly tools to approving authority by manufacturing first part with new tool.
  • Resolves problems with tool to produce acceptable parts and assemblies.
  • Works under general direction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 2 years experience in maintaining design tools preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • 2 years experience in the use of hand tools and fabrication equipment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to perform maintenance or repair machinery
  • Experience in maintenance or repair of industrial equipment
  • Ability to maintain a periodic maintenance program in a production environment
  • Basic computer skills- including but not limited to Microsoft Office Applications

This role is scheduled for 2nd shift

NASA Access:

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility. This is a NASA safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
